Dear Millsaps community,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday with family and friends and are looking forward to the spring semester.

This email is to confirm that classes will resume as scheduled on Monday, January 10, 2022.

As a result of current COVID-19-positive case numbers throughout the state as well as changes in national guidelines by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the COVID-19 response committee will meet this week to discuss Millsaps’ current COVID protocols. Changes to the college’s current guidelines, if any, will be communicated to campus and updated on the college’s COVID-19 webpage as soon as possible.

As a reminder: if you have COVID symptoms, please consider taking a COVID test to confirm negative status. Individuals with COVID symptoms should not come on campus. If you test positive for COVID-19, please complete the appropriate reporting form (student reporting form may be found here; faculty/staff reporting form may be found here). Students should also contact their instructors directly and email their status to care@millsaps.edu. The college will be in touch with you directly with next steps.

Finally, I’d like to reiterate the college’s strong recommendation that all members of the community receive the COVID-19 vaccine (and booster as appropriate.) Nearly 80% of our campus population is currently vaccinated and continuing to increase this percentage will go a long way toward safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our community.

I wish you a healthy and successful start to the spring semester.

Sincerely,

Dr. Keith Dunn
Provost and Dean of the College
