Due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 omicron variant, Millsaps College is adjusting student guidelines and protocols for the month of January. By implementing these short-term changes, we hope to avoid major disruptions to the learning, academic and residential experience for the spring semester.
All guidelines and requirements will be re-evaluated at the end of January 2022.
Return to Campus
Residence Halls will open on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 10 a.m. In-person classes will resume as scheduled on Monday, January 10, 2022. Any student experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should take a COVID-19 test to confirm a negative status prior to returning to campus. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms should not come to campus. Many metro Jackson area testing centers are offering limited appointment times. Please do not delay in scheduling an appointment if you have any symptoms.
If you test positive for COVID-19, please submit a student reporting form. A Student Life administrator will contact you to discuss next steps, including a return date to campus.
Face Masks
The current Millsaps College face mask policy will be strictly enforced for the month of January.
Face masks must be worn by all students, regardless of vaccination status, while indoors on campus. This includes the Leggett living room and in dining areas (including the Caf, EcoGrounds and Reuben’s). Masks may be removed only when actively eating or drinking.
Masks are also required to be worn in residence halls except in individual rooms. This includes hallways, restrooms and common spaces within your building.
A Millsaps logo mask will be provided to each student during the first week of the semester. Masks may be picked up outside of the Caf on the following dates:
- Sunday, January 9, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Monday, January 10, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, January 11, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Students are also encouraged to bring their own supply of masks back to campus. A limited supply of KN95 masks will be available to students upon request. These masks may be picked up in the Student Life office during normal business hours.
Student Organizations Meeting and Events
Convening in groups increases the risk of viral transmissions. All student meetings and events should be conducted virtually for the month of January.
Dining
Our partners at Aramark remain committed to the safety and health of the Millsaps College community. Details and hours of operations for the Caf, EcoGrounds and Reuben’s are available at www.millsaps.campusdish.com.
To go boxes will continued to be offered in the Caf. Additionally, Aramark will continue providing students in on-campus quarantine and isolation with food service.
Anyone entering an on-campus dining facility must wear a mask. As a reminder, mask should be worn unless actively eating or drinking.
Vaccinations and Booster Shots
COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots are strongly encouraged. Please update your vaccination record by emailing a photo of your COVID-19 vaccination card to health@millsaps.edu.
