Peter Friedrich is the director of the Theatre program at Millsaps. He is the 2013 winner of the ACT’s Contribution to the Field Award for his five years of teaching and directing at the American University of Iraq in Sulaimani. At Millsaps he has led productions across a range of styles, including the community creations that have become the theatrical signature of the college. He has led similar work for the U.S. State Department’s Access Program, the federal penitentiary in Yazoo City, the Goodman Theatre’s Alice Lab and the Millsaps men’s football team. For the Association of Theatre in Higher Education, he has presented at several conferences and served as Chair of the Task Force on Interactive Theatre for Advocacy. As an actor, he most recently appeared in the 2019 off-Broadway revival of The Curious Case of the Watson Intelligence by Madeleine George.
