We invite accepted students planning to major or participate in the arts at Millsaps to apply for a Millsaps College Arts Scholarship. These scholarships are available in the disciplines of Art History, Creative Writing, Music, Studio Art and Theatre, and are awarded based on portfolio reviews, auditions, and/or interviews, which take place annually on campus during Arts Scholars Day. This year’s auditions and interviews will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 (music and theatre only.)

In 2021, up to $4,000 was awarded to qualifying Arts Scholars in addition to the merit-based scholarships students had already received upon their acceptance to the college. Students may audition in multiple disciplines, but no more than two Fine Arts Scholarships will be awarded to an individual student.

To be considered for these scholarships, interested students must complete a Millsaps College application with all supporting documents for admission.

Additionally, students must:

  • Complete their Arts Scholars application.
  • Submit any supplemental material, which is listed on the links to the individual departments at the top of this page.
  • Have an instructor or teacher who is familiar with your work submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf directly to the designated professor in that department: Sue Carrie Drummond (Art History and Studio Art, drummsc@millsaps.edu), Liz Egan (Creative Writing, eganee@millsaps.edu), Rachel Heard (Music, heardr@millsaps.edu), and Sam Sparks (Theatre, sparksd@millsaps.edu).

Confirmation of completion of your application will be sent via email.

If you are interested in the Arts Scholars program and have questions, please email the designated professor in that department: Sue Carrie Drummond (Art History and Studio Art), Liz Egan (Creative Writing), Rachel Heard (Music), and Sam Sparks (Theatre). An alternative audition and/or portfolio review date can be scheduled when possible.
